01 / CURRENT H4 RULES

A completed candle. Fixed references.

The same strict H4 sweep pattern is evaluated across Gold, 28 FX pairs, Shares, and Indices & Oil. Broker candles define the four-hour boundaries; the developing candle cannot confirm a setup.

Three checks, in either direction

BUY: the latest completed candle sweeps below the immediately previous low, closes bullish, and closes above the top of the previous candle body.

SELL: it sweeps above the immediately previous high, closes bearish, and closes below the bottom of the previous body.

All three candle comparisons are strict. Equality does not qualify. EMA(50) / EMA(200) is context only: opposite, equal or unavailable EMAs do not block a setup. Both averages, when available, use completed H4 closes through the signal candle; forming and future candles are excluded. No trend or daily-direction filter is added.

One original set of levels

The signal candle’s close is the indicative entry. Its low is the BUY stop reference; its high is the SELL stop reference. That entry-to-stop distance defines 1R.

References and timestamps stay fixed. These are website reference prices, not actual broker fills.

The grid evaluates the latest completed H4 candle. Older setups belong in dated records, with later target and stop events recorded separately. Missing or stale candle data is shown separately from “No qualifying setup”. A short EMA history only makes trend context unavailable; it does not block valid candle checks.

02 / DISTINCT SOURCES OF EVIDENCE

Each result belongs to its own rules.

Historical simulations, forward observations and archived experiments answer different questions. We keep their periods, target schedules and execution assumptions separate.

CURRENT FORWARD OBSERVATIONS

H4-v3 / 3-Check Sweep

Strategy version h4-sweep-3check-v3. Three strict candle checks determine qualification, with EMA(50) / EMA(200) displayed as context only; the target schedule remains 0.5R / 1R / 1.5R (h4-half-targets-v2). New signals use a two-candle scoring window (h4-two-candle-window-v1): the next two actual trading H4 candles in the broker’s native sequence after confirmation, ending sooner at the original stop or TP3. Overnight and weekend closures do not count as candles. At the second candle’s close, the highest confirmed target becomes the final score, from zero to three. Missing or ambiguous candle evidence remains unconfirmed. This is a results window, not an instruction to close a trade. The combined running total includes earlier unlimited-tracking results and new two-candle results. Completed results retain their saved policy; earlier unlimited outcomes have not been recalculated to a two-candle deadline. Corrections supported by native candle history retain the original result for audit. Records retain their observation dates and original references.

SAVED NATIVE MT5 STUDY

Gold · original 3-check H4 · 3R study

5 September 2024–31 August 2026. Study snapshot: 27 September 2026, with separate BUY, SELL and combined-account runs. These requested a 3R target from an executable Ask or Bid after confirmation, with one position at a time in each account.

SAVED NATIVE MT5 STUDY

Shares · original 3-check H4 · 3R study

11 January 2021–29 September 2026 and a separately reset recent period, 1 January–29 September 2026. Study snapshot: 30 September 2026. Twelve share CFDs were tested in separate instrument/direction accounts, using executable quotes and requested 3R targets.

ARCHIVED EXPERIMENTS

Earlier records keep their original context

Saved 3-check H4 records and archived H4-v2 / 4-Check Trend-Aligned records (h4-ema50-200-v2) keep their original qualification, version, target schedule and later outcomes. They are not re-scored under the current H4-v3 rules. Older range models, direction filters and offline candle simulations also retain their own rules, dates and assumptions. The native 3R studies do not validate today’s closer targets, and Gold results do not transfer to other markets. Previously examined periods are not presented as untouched out-of-sample evidence.

The H4 EMA(50) / EMA(200) filter remains an archived strategy version; it is no longer compulsory for current signals.

03 / WHAT THE NUMBERS MEAN

A target touch is one part of the picture.

Spread & costs

The saved native Gold and Shares studies include native Bid/Ask spread and booked swaps. Their commission and fees were zero in the tester specification; historical cost terms were not independently verified. The separate offline shares simulation assumed 0.10% per side and 5% annual financing.

Execution & slippage

A requested price can differ from a fill. Native studies use executable quotes with a configured 20ms delay. Website candle-close references do not recreate those executions or measure actual slippage.

Drawdown & outcomes

The saved native Gold study reports simulated account equity drawdown alongside returns. Forward H4 workspace records only observe reference-price target and stop events. They do not calculate realised profit, actual slippage or account drawdown.
