01

Start with compatibility

Confirm the required MetaTrader version, intended instruments, broker symbol names and account conditions with the EA provider. A system written for one environment should not be assumed to work in another.

02

Understand the inputs

Read the instructions before changing settings. Identify which inputs affect entries, exits, position sizing and exposure. Keep a record of the configuration you test so you can reproduce it.

03

Use a test environment

MetaTrader’s Strategy Tester can run an Expert Advisor against historical data. This is a way to investigate behaviour under specified conditions; it is not evidence of future profit. A demo environment also helps you observe operation without putting live capital at risk.

04

Plan the operating conditions

Discuss connection requirements, monitoring and what happens after a restart or interruption. Confirm how to stop the EA, review its activity and identify errors before you consider a live deployment.

05

Keep records and ask questions

Record the EA version, settings, test period and environment. If behaviour differs from the explanation, pause and investigate. Do not post account passwords or credentials in a community chat.
